20 - Celebrate the Small Stuff

Lesson 20: Celebrate The Small Stuff
You don’t need a birthday, job change, or milestone to mark a moment.
Celebrate the email you finally sent.
Celebrate the day you didn’t quit.
Celebrate the project you finally finished.
Celebrate the person who did something hard.
Celebrate that moment of discomfort.
We all have those moments during the day that on the surface are small, but beneath that iceberg is a stack of effort, worry, anxiety, drama, and decisions.
It is said that most employees don’t feel appreciated at work. And that is the #1 reason that they leave. Not pay. Not benefits. Not work-from-home. Because they just don’t feel that they matter.
Well, leaders, guess what? You are the reason they leave. Because you didn’t make them matter. To you.
Or if you feel that you don’t matter? Take it upon yourself to find a way to give credit to YOU. Even if others aren’t. I think of motherhood here. Motherhood is a constant stream of small (and big!) stuff that goes unnoticed. So, pat yourself on the back or give yourself a high five if you need to.
Coaching Thoughts
Write down three “small wins” at the end of each day or week.
Send a “you did it!” message to someone in your circle.
On that hard day? Treat yourself for just showing up.
Model the appreciation of others on your team, or in your business. Appreciation is infectious. Spread it around.
Your turn:
What’s something small but meaningful you’ve done lately?
To All: Thank you for being on this journey with me – past, present, and future.
