Hi, I’m Julie.

Whether you hire me for coaching, training, or consulting, you are investing to tap into my services, experience, and expertise. But more than that, you’re investing to work directly with me, person-to-person.

That means I am the product I sell. And when we work together, it’s a mutual relationship. One where I seek to understand who you are and what you value. And it works best when you understand the same about me. That’s why I’m here to share more about myself so understand WHAT you are investing in. And more importantly, I want you to believe in WHO you’re working with.

Let me do my best to explain how I live my life and view the world.

Wellness is the foundation of what I do and who I am. That’s because, you can invest in wellness, but you can’t buy it. And without a life centered around wellness, you have little else. And for many business owners, finding wellness in the different areas of life is a big challenge. So, let’s start there.

So what is wellness? And how does it relate to business ownership?

My definition of wellness is inspired by a few key principles, coupled with my behaviour to bring those principles to life.

I Chase the Sun

To me, daylight represents opportunity. I am up before the sun and maximize the gift of today. The rhythms of the universe are an important part of how I get things done. My grown children tell me I keep the “hours of a baby” and I am totally okay with that.

This includes happily succumbing to an afternoon nap if that’s what I need. Our time and energy are both powerful in effect and limited in volume. So, I embrace, and exercise, full agency over how I find and capitalize both.

Just like in my life, I value helping clients to maximize their time and set up routines that work to optimize today.

I am Driven

I am driven to excel at whatever I do. Here’s what that looks like for me: :

Being good at health and wellness means I live my belief that movement, strength and mobility are the foundations of a body that goes great places and does great things.

Being good at sports means I can perform well on the court, course, gym, field, and in the water, or ring. Sometimes, quite spontaneously.

Being good at life means I seek out opportunities to exercise kindness and live in a way that expresses my caring to, and of, those who matter most to me. It means I am authentic, raw, and connected.

Being good at work means I provide value, impact, and meaning to the lives of others. If I am not best suited to deliver what a client needs, I will say so. I will connect anyone to anyone else that I think will benefit the collective. And, I welcome feedback. Knowing the current boundaries of my skills is an important part of my self-awareness towards goodness. Feedback aligns me on my path toward growth.

I am Awestruck by Nature

I still climb trees and rocks. I love to hike and bike wherever I can. I was born for a life of outside adventure. Usually, with a golden retriever or two at my side. For me, a day without nature is like a day without air. Sometimes my clients and I will golf together, walk together, bike together, or spend time on or around the water.

Not all of us can find our inspiration behind a screen, and every day my time outside brings me the clarity and creativity of thought that I simply can’t get indoors.

To bring the inspiration of nature into my daily work, my home is filled with greenery, wood, animals, and elements of nature. I find pieces of nature on trips and make them a part of my environment. This inspires me. I am balanced because of my connection to the outdoors. When I am balanced, my clients benefit. And I know your clients benefit when you’re balanced too.

I Love Growth

I am focused on continuous improvement. At different times, this has been a blessing and a curse in my life. Turns out it’s good to take a break from improving everything, all the time.

On the positive side growing is part of how we all evolve. From the (many!) plants in my home, to my ongoing commitment to development (through courses, reading, learning, and thinking), to raising adults, and to simply becoming a better human — I am addicted to growth.

I steadily and consistently move towards taking action in the areas that feel hard but make the most difference. That could be a hard decision, a difficult problem, or a step that feels scary because it's new. I figure that thing out, then rinse and repeat. This is a huge asset in running my business and supporting business owners. Growth in business requires recognizing that the hard thing is almost invariably where the opportunity lies. Opportunity is how businesses survive. Opportunity protects you and those who rely on your products, services, or paycheque to continue to manage their lives.

I Take the Road Less Travelled

Innovation means challenging accepted wisdom. The road less travelled has more to teach us. So, does the side trail. Fewer people, less distraction, greater inspiration, and more challenge.

My favorite moments at work are when I am crafting new solutions. We’re told “let’s not reinvent the wheel” but I ask, “what if there is something better than the wheel?”

Leading is about being innovative with vision and application. It is letting people apply their skills in new and exciting ways. The view is different on the side trail. I am passionate about exploring it and sharing what I find.
